BKT tyres the choice of the Scaglia Farm
Indian tyre maker BKT has reported the first-hand story of the Scaglia Farm in Italy, and why they have chosen a wide range of BKT tyres for thier machinery.
The story of the Scaglia Farm is a long one, which was started two generations ago by the grandfather of Graziano, Paolo and Mauro Scaglia, brothers and partners in the company based in Rivoli, province of Turin, in Northern Italy.
At the Scaglia Farm they define themselves as “Stockbreeders from the beginning” and they specialise in Piedmontese cattle. Each of the brothers has precise duties: Paolo handles all the aspects relating to the harvest, Mauro to the cattle farming, while Graziano is in charge of marketing and managing the shop.
To raise the bar in terms of quality, the Scaglia brothers first tested and then chose to equip their machinery with a wide range of BKT tyres.
The Agrimax V-Flecto in the VF 540/65 R 28 size on the front axle and VF 650/65 R 38 on the back, is fitted to the New Holland T6.180 tractor. This tyre is equipped with VF technology which makes it possible to maximise loads without changing tyre pressure, regardless of speed, so it is possible to carry 40 per cent more load than a standard tyre in the same class. Instead, thanks to a wider tyre footprint and the wider tread, it guarantees reduced soil compaction, according to BKT.
The Agrimax RT 657 was chosen for the New Holland T5.140 tractor, in the 440/65 R 28 and 540/65 R 38 sizes. It is a versatile tyre, which can work the terrain and at the same time be used on the road. The particular tread design and the resistant structure guarantee outstanding driving comfort as well as significant fuel savings, BKT claims.
The New Holland T5.95 tractor is instead equipped on the rear axle with the Agrimax RT 855 in the 420/85 R 30 size. A tyre developed to work the terrain and for transport both in the field and on the road. BKT says it stands out for its excellent traction and comfort, combined with a high load capacity. Its self-cleaning properties enable rapid transfer from the field to use on the road.
The Flotation 648 was chosen to equip the Crosetto agricultural trailer, in the 385/65 – 22.5 size. It is an all-purpose tyre, ideal for transport in the field and on the road, for spreader applications and also during harvesting thanks to the particular design of the tread. This guarantees a high local capacity even at low pressure and also guarantees reduced soil compaction, according to the tyre maker.
And last but not least is the Con Star, the tyre used on the Merlo telehandler. It is designed for forklifts which BKT says shines in any conditions thanks to solid grip, resistance and durability, and vertical and lateral stability, even when fully-loaded. It was the Con Star which convinced Scaglia to adopt a wide range of BKT solutions.
Regarding the Con Star, Mauro Scaglia comments: “We have had major advantages with BKT, above all in work in the sheds with our telehandler, an essential environment for us where competitors’ tyres had caused slipping. With BKT we observed better grip which gives us more control and safety in this important stage of our work.”
Paolo Scaglia adds: “We are happy we chose BKT and we look forward to going on together for many more years. They are soft products which do not cause us any backache. We tried them out on the telehandler and we then chose them for all our vehicles and for every use. From transport to plowing, from seeding to shed work, BKT is always with us and we are really happy with our choice!”
