Giti Tire has been named winner of the Tyre Manufacturer Award at the inaugural TyreSafe Awards, created to recognise excellence in raising awareness of tyre safety.

Continental Tyres has appointed two new members to its commercial team for UK and Ireland. Tom Edwards, assumes the role of Retread and Brand Manager and joins the UK and Ireland commercial vehicle marketing team, while Gabriel O’Keefe will take on a Truck Sales Manager position covering Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland border

With 280,000 kilometres already achieved during trials of Continental’s HD Hybrid tyre, leading Irish haulier Tarrant International Transport is confident that 300,000 kilometres will be reached before the tyres finally require replacing.

Unlike car tyres, truck and bus tyres do not react as powerfully to temperatures below seven degrees Celsius because of their high proportion of natural rubber. However, in freezing weather conditions or during snowfall, special winter tyres clearly provide better traction and greater safety.
