Apollo Tyres has become the first company in the Indian automotive sector to receive ISO 20400:2017 certification for its raw material procurement process.
This certification provides guidance to organisations, independent of their activity or size, on integrating sustainability within procurement, as described in ISO 26000. It is intended for stakeholders involved in, or impacted by, procurement decisions or processes.
Apollo says its procurement team has undertaken a rigorous process to realign the existing practices, including the strategies, policies and processes, to embed the sustainable procurement elements.
The validation exercise that started last August is a culmination of a three-stage assessment by TÜV SÜD auditors through onsite visits and virtual engagements with the relevant stakeholders.
