TecDoc updates tyredata

TecDoc launched the Tyredata option to its ultra successful CATALOG parts identification system in May 2011 and it has been well received by many of its WEB SHOP customers. However, not being a company to rest on its laurels, TecDoc has now improved the option further and added extra functionality so that users can now search by tyre size as well as by the vehicle.

Tyredata was originally developed to provide fast fits, workshops, factors and car dealers with a single source electronic catalogue that would efficiently identify the original equipment (OE) tyre fitment for a specific vehicle. As with many of the replacement parts supplied throughout the aftermarket, individual tyre manufacturers produce their own catalogues for their specific brands, which although they may contain some cross-reference information, don’t directly identify the OE tyre.

Tyredata by contrast, clearly indicates the OE fitment as well as providing users with all the listed alternative suppliers and the linked vehicles that share the same tyre specification. In addition, it also includes the address and contact details for the tyre manufacturer, an image of the tyre and specific article information on the tyre selected.

As a result Tyredata users no longer need to thumb through the individual manufacturer’s catalogues or search their websites. Instead they can simply enter the vehicle make, model and year through their terminal or following the update, the tyre size and the precise specification of the tyre - including the speed rating - will be displayed alongside a choice of manufacturers that supply tyres of that size and specification.

Shaun Greasley, commercial director of TecDoc UK and Eire said: “When we originally introduced the Tyredata option, we believed it provided our WEB SHOP customers with an excellent addition to the system. However, by adding extra functionality and giving users the choice to be able to search by vehicle or tyre size we now provide them with the best of both worlds so they can suit themselves.

“Naturally, fast fits that are part of a large chain will be linked into an internal system, but it is only likely to cross reference data from their tyre suppliers. It is therefore still difficult for them to identify the correct tyre and they normally ask the customer to provide the details directly from the vehicle in order to provide an accurate quote. With TecDoc however, our source data comes from the tyre manufacturers that supply their tyres as OE to the vehicle manufacturers, so the information is first rate.

“As well as providing an accurate identification reference tool, the system also displays multiple suppliers, which means quick decisions can be made when it comes to sourcing the tyre required, which is always important for the time conscious motorist.

“TecDoc Tyredata provides fitting centres, fleet workshops and the independent garage with an unrivalled means of tyre identification and we would be pleased to speak to those interested in taking a closer look at the system.”
